AnnouncementsThe loan period for Undergraduate students ends on 25/06/26. All loans must be retuned to the store by this date.
Final Year Undergraduate students will be able to access the studios until 29/05/26
If you are a PG student or a UG student with EC and need acess to a studio after this date, please contact us via email as we have alternative provision availible.
Continuing students are able to acess the Photography studios and studio equipment during the summer break, after the end of year shows have been dismantled. Equipment can not be used outside of the University in this period. The availability for the studios will be shown on connect 2 following the removal of the exhibition build.

How long can I loan equipment for ?
Level 4 students can loan equipment for 3 days
Level 5 students can loan equipment for 4 days
Level 6/7 students can loan equipment for 1 week
Loan periods that end on the weekend will automatically default to be retuned the following Monday.
If you require equipment for longer than the periods shown above then please submit an extended loan form so your request can be reviewed. This is availible here: Extended Loan Request Form
How much does it cost to borrow equipment ?
There is no charge to borrow equipment. However students are finacialy liable for loans retuned late. Students are also liable for any damge or loss incured to the equipment while they have it on loan (see the Equipment Loan Policy for more details on this)
How much are the fines ?
Once a loan is overdue, it is liable for a fine. Fines are charged at £5 per booking. This fine increases by an additional £5 for each additional 24 hour period until the loan is retuned.
Can I extend my loan ?
Loans can be extended, subject to availability. This can be done by emailing bwphotoloans@leeds-art.ac.uk It is not possible to extend an overdue loan. All overdue loans must be returned to the store and fines paid before any more equipment can be booked.
How do I book a studio ?
In order to book the studios, students on lens based courses (BA/MA Photography, BA Fashion Photography and BA Filmmaking) will need to attend an in person induction. These are timetabled in at the start of your course.
Students on non les based courses can access the studios by completing an online induction available on our e-studio page here: Non Lens Based Studio Induction
How far in advance can I book the studio ?
Level 4 students can book 1 week in advance
Level 5 students can book 2 weeks in advance
Level 6/7 students can book 3 weeks in advance
Is it possible to book more than one slot a week ?
All students can book one studio slot per week in advance on Connect2. However if there is an additional available slot you would like to use within the next 3 working days, email us the details and we will book you in.

Your account is created the first time you log in. To login in use your normal University login by clicking on the "sign in to your account" box. then select the "sign in with your LAU user name" option.
